 Lee Friedlander

b 1934 as Wash Aberdeen; American photographer, influenced by Walker Evans and Robert Frank. Friedländer is known for black-and-white streetscape views of the American scene that reflect the alienation of modern life. Later photographs have explored letters and numbers, the landscape, the female nude, and such contemporary workers as telemarketers.
