 Abraham André Moles

b 1920—died 1992. French communication theorist. Moles studied engineering before coming to head the Hermann Scherchen Laboratory for Electro-Acoustic Music in Switzerland. He was a professor at the University of Strasbourg (F), and director of the Institute for Social Psychology. His science studies led him to passing the cybernetic model of communication onto the human sciences. In this way, he combined the cybernetic system theory with communication aesthetics, as seen, for example, in his publications: «Théorie de l’information et perception esthétique» (Information Theory and Aesthetic Consciousness, 1958) and «Art and Computer» (1973).
