b 1756 in Salzburg (A)—died 1791 in Vienna. Mozart was the world-renowned genius of Viennese classical music. Fostered by his father from an early age, he created works of every type: operas, operettas, Singspiele, chamber music, church music, etc. His five master operas are among the greatest works in European musical history, but his piano and violin concerts are also musical masterpieces.
