Wolf Kahlen
b in Aachen (D); 1969 first artistic work with video; 1972 co-founder of the Video-Forum of the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein; since 1982 professor for Intermedia Art, Technical University Berlin; 1985 founder of the Ruine der Künste in West-Berlin; lives and works in Berlin.
Since the 1970s Kahlen investigates processes of time and contrasts the shallow TV culture with an exploration of ancient, mythical dimensions. Material reality gains a much higher relevance than the electronic reality that can only temporarily try to turn things upside down as if testing reality.
