 Walter Giers

* 1937 in Mannweiler, Pfalz (D). Walter Giers lived in Prague until 1945, after which he moved to Kevelaer on the Lower Rhine, where he lived until 1959. Aside from a creative phase as a jazz musician, in 1963 he took on a position at the School of Arts and Crafts in Schwäbisch Gmünd. He taught at the College of Design in Karlsruhe from 1992 to 1993. In 1995 he founded the office «Licht und Klang im öffentlichen Raum» (Light and sound in the public sphere) in Schwäbisch Gmünd. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in, amongst others, Saarbrücken, Stuttgart, Amsterdam, Munich, Cologne, and Toronto. Giers currently lives and works in Schwäbisch Gmünd (D).
