 Maciej Wisniewski

Artist and programmer whose work focuses on the underlying social implications of technology and the Internet. Wisniewski earned his M.F.A. at Hunter College, New York and completed post-graduate studies at the Institute for General Linguistics and Computational Linguistics, University of Stockholm (SWE). He launched «netomat» as a network-based art project in the summer of 1999. The project introduced an open, free form and flexible alternative to traditional page-based HTML browsers and search engines. In 2000, he co-founded a software company based on «netomat». Prior to that, Wisniewski worked as an Advanced Programmer at ibm.com, where he was responsible for developing ibm.com's XML strategy as well as numerous advanced Web prototype applications.
