«Lasting Values»

These seven profiles of children and young people in Berlin, who speak of their dreams and experiences following the accident at the nuclear power plant at Chernobyl, were filmed over a period of four years (1986–89) as part of a long-term observation project. The earlier material, filmed directly after the disaster, which confronted the children with an invisible threat, was shown to them later so that they could comment and reflect on their previous statements. A comparison of the profiles and the incorporation of news footage is achieved in formal terms by staggering the images electronically in the screen space.
