«Boreas»

The video installation takes its name from Boreas, the god of the north wind in Greek mythology.
In this system, the wind movements outside of a room, as measured by an amonemeter (wind gauge), are transposed to vertical rotary movements of a video camera in the interior of the room.
Camera and amonemeter are connected by a mechanical construction that passes through the window pane.
The control electronics and a wind gauge (which renders the motion of the wind visible) are contained in a medex box in the interior of the room.
The system begins functioning at a wind speed of 5 mph and is blocked again at 24 mph.
The stronger the wind outside, the faster the camera rotates inside. The mounting of the camera in the room and the arrangement of the monitors that display the effect are variable.
