The first kiss, the first seduction, her best friend, the school chum, the anxiety and the desire. Crude black-and-white pictures taken on her toy camera recall her coming-out. Her scrawling hand-writing, the aura of improvisation and incompleteness, the home video athmosphere - all of this links the tape to Benning's dominant theme: the American Dream and the awakening in reality.
