Television, structurally always one of the central points of reference for video art, is analyzed here in terms of German-German television. With the necessary distance to the end of the Cold War, an antipodal and dialogical audio-visual composition of two video projections presents an aspect of contemporary history. This also entertaining 'found footage' compilation underscores that ideology cannot dominate the medium of television and its conditions of presentation. Rosefeldt and Steinle take material from the West German news show 'Tagesschau', East Germany's 'Aktueller Kamera' , and public and private broadcasters, dramaturgically organizing it in the chapters and clichés of a news program, from 'good morning' through a collection of pause breathing to the weather and the moderator's departure.
