«Ohio»

As stated in the masthead, «Ohio is an artists’ project in magazine form». Since 1995, the artists Uschi Huber and Jörg Paul Janka (at first still collaborating with Stefan Schneider and Hans-Peter Feldmann) present in «Ohio» found footage compiled to image spreads without commentaries. They focus on photography which is instrumental and/or of a purely descriptive nature, and increasingly make use of video material. Managing without an explanatory text is the rule: the artists deal in particular with compilations of photographic material that adhere to purely visual guidelines, removed from conventional genres and outside any production context. Ohio was shown in various formats. Issue 12, «e.V» (registered association), showcasing the photographs of diverse associations, was published (2004) in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name at the Düsseldorf Art Association. The magazine is published by the Ohio Verlag in Cologne and marketed by the Walter König bookstores.
