b 1948 in Leipzig (GDR); 1965-67 evening classes at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig (GDR); 1966 accepted by the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig (GDR); in the 70s and 8s, experimental films, performances, collages; turned increasingly to documentary films from 1988; 1990 founded 'Lutz-Dammbeck-Filmproduktion'; visiting professorship and subsequent teaching at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung, Hamburg from 1992; lives and works in Hamburg.
