William Forsythe
b 1949 in New York City (USA); studied dance at Jacksonville University and at the Joffrey Ballet School; 1973 danced for the Stuttgart Ballet and started to work as a choreographer; from 1984 director of the Frankfurt/M. Ballet; Forsythe is one of the most renowned choreographers of contemporary dance internationally. As the artistic director of the Ballett Frankfurt he has developed a highly complex dance language, with which hexplores the boundaries of ballett and questions the aethetics of dance as an art performed on stage; lives and works in Frankfurt/Main.
