Reacting to the narrow legal view of ARD-Online, a public broadcaster which co-organized the Net literature competion ‘Pegasus 1998' and deemed that the operator of a website could be held liable under law for any link included in a site, convex tv. developed the Internet project ‘link/radikal'. By showing how quickly, and via how few links, it is possible to travel from the ‘ARD-Online' site to a page with ‘radical' content, the project reduces to absurdity the broadcaster's stance. Via the ‘link/radikal' opening page, the user reaches a page featuring the ARD statement along with a range of source texts superimposed over each other. By clicking on essential terms in the press release, it is then possible to surf ‘virtually' through the linked sites operated by the ARD as well as the Potsdam-based radio broadcaster ‘Fritz', the art organization ‘mikro' and convex tv. itself. Surfers end up with an excerpt from Pixelporno', a convex tv. project playing with pornography on the Net (and thus illustrating the ARD's first instance of ‘radical content'). This page opens onto a ‘second course in radicalism' that leads, via the Pegasus homepage and ARD, to the magazine ‘trend' (partisan.net), and ultimately to the site of the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

convex tv. has existed since 1997 as a Net radio collective with some ten members recruited from the fields of art, art conveyance, journalism, (media) architecture and psychology. From the outset, convex tv. focused on intertwining old and new media and associated production methods and approaches. In this process, the collective has operated on various terrains – on air, on-line, on site – to take in work with radio and the Internet as well as establish a live presence.
On the first Sunday of every month since January 1997, convex tv. has simultaneously broadcast on a Berlin wavelength and the Internet a 1-hour magazine dealing with digital media, pop phenomena, media politics, technology, film and literature. In collaboration with Radio Internationale Stadt, the Web pages of convex tv. archive print articles and experimental works based on sound as well as text and image. This database currently encompasses some 50 hours of audio material.
