make alias [on site] | © convex tv.
convex tv. has existed since 1997 as a Net radio collective with some ten members. The collective has operated on various terrains – on air, on-line, on site – to produce work with radio and the Internet as well as establish a live presence. ‘make alias' involved a combination of on-site presence (at the ‘Plattform/berlin biennale' and ‘test bed') with an ‘integrative intervention' in the art context. As well as delivering live audio streams broadcast from a computer- and sound-assisted audio-text object (‘make alias' – manifesto on forms of self-marginalization), ‘make alias' referred to the ‘test bed', the home base of convex tv. In this semi-public work and presentation space, the analog and digital aspects of convex tv. are linked.

«convex tv. [on air]»

convex tv. has existed since 1997 as a Net radio collective with some ten members recruited from the fields of art, art conveyance, journalism, (media) architecture and psychology. From the outset, convex tv. focused on intertwining old and new media and associated production methods and approaches. In this process, the collective has operated on various terrains – on air, on-line, on site – to take in work with radio and the Internet as well as establish a live presence.
On the first Sunday of every month since January 1997, convex tv. has simultaneously broadcast on a Berlin wavelength and the Internet a 1-hour magazine dealing with digital media, pop phenomena, media politics, technology, film and literature. In collaboration with Radio Internationale Stadt, the Web pages of convex tv. archive print articles and experimental works based on sound as well as text and image. This database currently encompasses some 50 hours of audio material.
