 Tom Wesselmann
«Still Life # 28»

Wesselmann uses the American interior as the theme for many of his works. In the process, he combines painting with everyday objects such as the chair, telephone, radio, and radiator. In two paintings from the year 1963, he integrates a functional television set. In both cases, he creates a painted, picture within a picture of an American president: in «Still Life # 28» this happens with Abraham Lincoln, and in «Still Life # 3» with George Washington.
