«Structures II»

Like Lutz Dammbeck, Christine Schlegel was also influenced by dance performer Fine Kwiatkowski. Characteristic of her work was the mixture of painterly, film, musical, and actionistic elements – sometimes using appropriate sound groups like 'Einstürzende Neubauten'. Her constant reworking and recombining of visual motifs and structures (in 'Structures and Film' and 'Structures II') makes clear once again the degree to which painting and film influenced each other in East Germany in the 1980s.
