Works by Markus Popp:

Oval Process Public Beta| Wohnton

 Markus Popp
«Oval»

«Oval» was founded 1991 by Markus Popp, Sebastian Oschatz and Frank Metzger, and published on labels such as Mille Plateaux, Thrill Jockey, and Tokuma Communications Japan. The publications often create a link with a terminal, sound installation («Wohnton»), or software («Process»). For a typical «Oval sound,» a 10-second-long passage is extracted from an audio CD, with the Oval track finally assembled from 20-second-long patterns created within this passage. Alongside collaborations with musicians from the international electronic-music scene, also credited to «Oval» are sound backdrops made for fashion shows by Prada as well as for commercials by Armani. Since 1996 «Oval» is a one-man undertaking run by Markus Popp.
