b 1928 Pittsburgh (USA) – died 1987 in New York (USA); studies at the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh (USA); 1949 works in New York (USA) as graphic designer for fashion magazines; 1957 foundation of the Andy Warhol Enterprises, Inc.; in the following years, many of his works come out of the collaborative environment of his »Factory« in New York; 1963 first film and in the mid-60s works dealing with TV and video; 1968 suffered a serious attempt of murder; 1969 foundation of the magazine «Interview.» Warhol, along with Marcel Duchamp, is listed as one of the most influential artist of contemporary art.
