Mariko Mori
«Play with Me»
In 1994 Mori created a series of photographies like «Play with Me,» «Tea Ceremony,» «Love Hotel,» «Red Light» or «Subway,» in which she envisioned herself as a post-human cyborg girl, a stranger that seemed to have leeped into real life from a manga comic or a video game thereby creating an irritation about the future. The works from this period are questioning the cyborg phantasies from Japanese animes and traditional female roles.
