In a series of photographic 'body configurations', geometric figures such as circles, lines and squares serve Valie Export as reference points and counterpoles to the body – as seen in this mimetic matching of the body to the stony right-angle of a bench. Valie Export's photographic works on the self-perception of the body and the way it is perceived by others similarly deal with the subject of visualizing a difference.
